Our little village “Cigne” is 2 kms away and has a well stocked shop, bar and a restaurant which is open every weekday lunchtime and offers a 4 course meal with wine, cider, water and coffee for only 10.50 euros p.p. Ambrieres les Vallees is 6 kms from us and has 1 hotel, 2 restaurants, bars and 3 small supermarkets. Mayenne is the nearest largest town, 15kms away with large hypermarkets, many shops, restaurants and bars, etc. Within 6 kms there is an open air swimming pool ( July and August ), velo rail, canoe - kayak, electric boats, ball trap, crazy golf and horse riding. There are three covered swimming pools and two very good golf courses close by. The local area is ideal for walking and cycling and we have 2 bikes for use by our guests. The medievial town of Domfront is 12 kms away with its old ruins of a castle giving magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. Bagnoles de L’Orne which is a spa town is a 30 minute drive from the gite and has a beautiful lake, casino, horse racing track and many lovely shops, bars and restaurants. One of the most famous villages in France for its floral displays is St. Fraimbault, which is is nearby, and has a 4 flower symbol and is visited by people from afar. Within an easy ninety minute drive you can reach the picturesque town of St Malo, enjoy a good shellfish lunch  in Cancale and an enjoyable afternoon in the beautiful Monastry of Mont St. Michel, where the abbey is well worth a visit. Withib a two hour drive to the landing beaches can be reached and the famous Bayeux Tapestry. Rennes is about 1.5 hours drive but is well worth visiting for its beautiful architecture. For visitors in June the Le Mans 24 hour race is only 1.5 hours from us. There are many other attractions too numerous to mention such as the magnificent chateaux at Lassay and similar others in the area. There are many excellent restaurants nearby offering a wide choice of local food which we would be pleased to advise you of their locality.
